Hurricane Ike hits hard

Can you see the sign?

GOD is bigger than Ike

Yippee, we have electricity!  We got 'turned on' about 6pm yesterday.

Our property was a mess but thanks to our great friend, Bruce, we made a big dent in it and things are looking better.  I even mowed yesterday (not too tough since we have cooler weather & a riding lawnmower).
Galveston before
Galveston after

As for our bay house in Galveston, we just don't know.....  We feel blessed that it is our vacation home & not our permanent residence.  Many folks down there are without a home.
Also, Jason did go get his boat on Thursday....  thank God.  In the picture above, here are some boats that didn't make.

Oh I love that sign... so true. Rolled into Fairfield right after the last text I sent you. Hope you are all doing well. My dad is being stubborn about coming here. My mom is ready... I may need to just leave tomorrow and go over there. I'll pack them up and make them come back with me. It is going to warm up and they will be miserable, even with a generator!!

Let's do lunch soon. :) ~Jill

Great sign! Glad you are all safe and sound, including your boat. Hope your canal house is in good shape, too. There are some great blog/message boards that you can access through the Galveston newspaper. People are posting info on the various neighborhoods and streets. Check it out, you may be able to get some info on it.

We were last on the Island over Labor Day weekend. Hubby is hoping to make the trip next weekend.

BTW, your "after" picture is actually Boliver Point. Galveston rec'd a hard blow, to be sure, but nothing like the community across the bay. We've got several contacts there on the island who've said that there are some really bad spots, but it's not as bad in some respects as the media would want everyone to believe.

Blessings!

What's up Qui Qui? My parents just got a call from a neighbor and they now have power. I'm sad to see them go already. They are leaving this morning. What do you have going on today? ~Jill :)

Good Afternoon Ms. Queen... this is Mrs. Wired from Comment Elementary. I'm calling to inform you that you are close to failing your Blogging Basics class. Your progress report shows that you are under the minimum amount of posts for a grading period. I am able to give tutorials during lunch at Newk's, La Maria or Chili's. This is of utmost importance due to the fact that report cards go out in less than two weeks. If tutorials are done during a happy hour at Alicia's or Cafe Red Onion, you recieve extra credit.

Since I've been placed in the Blog Mentor program, I thought I'd take you on as my first project.

Please email me or call me at your earliest convenience so that we can schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Wired :)
